    Language is an important part of communication with one another in human society. The main focus of this thesis was to compare and analyze the high school textbooks for different cultures in Korea and America and to draw an efficient teaching guide lines. Chapter 2 examined theoretical background, the relationship of language and the culture. In chapter 3, analyzed the cultural factors presented in the high school textbooks based on the language and the life cultural factor. The effective method in teaching was also presented. In chapter 4, the reason that we study English is to achieve the ability to communicate. To meet this purpose, we must focus not only on the functional English language, but understand the language as sociocultural veins because it involves deeply the ones' culture where it forms the language. It was suggested some methods for effective cultural teaching in aspects of textbooks and teachers. The language that reflects one's way of thinking and the culture is expressed to be different according to the social consciousness structures, ones' behavioral patterns and the cultural differences. To teach the genuine meaning of the language, the educators must help them to understand the contents and the knowledge of the culture. Instead of arranging a textbook with simple sentences to be memorized, researchers should develop a teaching material which contains the each cultural area's specific characters.
