    Music activities have a large influence on human beings. The aim of this thesis is to verify that the Samulnori music program along with various group activities decreases students' stress levels and positively influences their emotions. The following assumptions were made. 1. The students' stress levels will drop after they participate in the Samulnori music program. 2. The Samulnori group activity will have a positive influence on the students' emotions. The Samulnori music program was carried out, once a week for 24 weeks from April 2003 to October 2003, at M Middle School in Yeosu city, Jeonlanamdo. The Samulnori group was composed of 20 students; 8 boys and 12girls. The 6 step Samulnori music program (SMP) was designed to confirm the positive effects of musical therapy on students. The SMP is composed of Utdari Samulnori. There was a pretest before the program started and a posttest after the program finished. To ensure that the results were reliable, the students' emotional changes were observed by interviews following each step of the program. The results are as follows; Analyzing and comparing the results of the pretest and posttest confirmed that the first and second assumptions made were true. After the students' participated in the Samulnori group activities their stress levels were reduced and their emotional changes were positive. In conclusion, cooperative spirit among group members was developed through playing music in harmony and the students' ability to concentrate was increased. This study confirms the expected results of musical therapy. By incorporating musical therapy into the students' daily life, their emotional stability and ability to cope with various stressful situations increased. Furthermore this emotional stability can help students who are at the age of puberty adapt better to their school lives. In addition, students that participate in group activities at school may have an increased community spirit. These results indicate that the SMP has a positive effect on students' stress levels and emotions.
