In "Koo Un Mong", a Buddhist, Sung jin, is expelled to the human world by his master, the great Buddhist Yook Gwan, since he is smitten with the mundane honor and wealth. This work consists of the content that Sung jin, who is born again as Yang So Yoo in this world, feels that everything is in vain, and then he comes back the Buddhism world and devotes himself to spiritual discipline. First of all, this study looked into mainly the study results about the theme of "Koo Un Mong" among study subjects, which have been studied in various fields for the time. In Chapter 2, this study looked into the situation in those times when "Koo Un Mong was created, the author's life and his literature view. Even though Seo, Po shows his position through 'Woo Un Mong" that he refuses the ideology and order of Joo Ja Hak, which was a medieval philosophy, at the same time he also reveals his agony and wandering in which the ideological factor exists. This is the part that Seo Po reveals his limits without completely emerging from the ideology and order of Confucianism. Seo Po, who was kicked out of the main political power, had his personal desire to live like Yang So Yoo in the work, and his desire is compensated by sublimating his desires for compensation into philosophy. In Chapter 3, this study looked into the author's consciousness that he tried to express in the feudalistic order through the relationships between Sung jin and the great Buddhist Yook Gwan, Sung jin and 8 fairies and Yang So Yoo and 8 wives. And, it looked into the intentions of the characters and the meaning of literary history. Seo Po made various characters appear in his work and added fantasy to it, and thereby enhanced the greater value of his work. Seo Po organized the basic framework of the work, making "human desires" the tools of concepts. By showing the process to idealistically accomplish desires through characters, he exhibits, what is the real value of life as a social and historical existence. This study considered the situation in those times when the author, Kim Man Joong created "Koo Un Mong", just within the literary category. The article writer thinks that the study of the aspect of the relationships between the characters appeared in "Koo Un Mong" would be even a little helpful for reading and analyzing the classical novels, and hopes that the further studies could be made in this field in the future.
