(An) Investigative Research on Attitude of Female School Teacher about Retirement and Post Retirement Community Involvement

Although old-aged population shows serious a woman over phenomenon due to aging, together with longer life span of female than male, female's community advancement is relatively low and economic level of female old-aged is relatively inferior due to long Confucian tradition and patriarch alculture. Also, it is still not easy for females to work until retirement age in reality. Consequently, research about female retirement or post retirement life is still rare. In this research, it wants to inquire about what attitude females have about retirement and post retirement community involvement, targeting female school teachers as female work that equipstable work environment and professionalism in current situation of rare female work that guarantees work until retirement age. Collection of data was done by inquiring questionnaires targeting 202 female school teachers, and analysis of data was done by frequency, percentage, cross tabulation analysis, one factor ANOVA analysis, Duncan Post Approval, t-test and so on using SPSS Win 12.o program. The result of the research is like the following. First, it showed that the range of respondents to when do you think is the start of senescence was from the age of 50 to 80, average senescence start age was 61.98 and especially more than half of the greatest number of respondents think that senescence start between the age of 60 to 64. Second, in the attitude of female school teachers about retirement according to existence of spouse, as a result of t-test, there was no meaningful difference between the two groups, the attitude about retirement as a "rest" showed to be the highest in order, attitude about retirement as a "new start" was next and "continuity" the last in order. Third, among the results of post retirement problems, the result of responses to the most anxious part showed that weakening of health was the highest, and the next was loss of role and work to do. Fourth, as a result of knowledge about desirable community involvement after retirement, the most numerous response was volunteer service in kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school and related institutions, and education related involvement in the same school. When looked from above results, it showed that the higher the age, female schoolteachers perceive senescence to start later, and they had affirmative and advisable attitude about retirement. As an investigative characteristic research done at a state where there was almost not any preceding research done targeting prearranged female retirees, it is expected to be able to contribute in providing basic data to develop retirement plan education program targeting females hereafter.
