Properties of (Na_(1-x)K_(x))NbO(3) was clarified and Na_(0.5)K_(0.5)NbO_(3) showed best piezoelectric properties. Na_(0.5)K_(0.5)NbO_(3) has the orthorhombic structure which was preserved with the addition of the ZnO. The lattice parameter of the specimen slightly increased when ZnO was added indicating that a small amount of the Zn^(2+) ion entered the matrix of the specimens. However, when a large amount of the ZnO was added, ZnO second phase was found. For the specimens sintered at 1050℃, bulk density increased with the addition of ZnO and showed maximum value when 1.0 mol% of ZnO was added. Curie temperature of the specimen slightly decreased when ZnO was added. The piezoelectric constant(d_(33)). electromechanical coupling factor(kp), remnant polarization and dielectric constant(ε^(T)_(3)/ε_(0)) increased with the addition of asmall amount of the ZnO which could be due to the improvement of the bulk density. The good dielectric and piezoelectric properties of d_(33)=122(pC/N), kp=0.41 and ε^(T)_(3)/ε_(0)=400 were obtained for the specimen with 1 mol% of ZnO sintered 1050℃ for 2 h. In addition, the 1 mol% of ZnO added Na_(0.5)K_(0.5)NbO_(3) did not show any deliquescence.
