    As the quantity of trading expanded, the introduction of inspection system using x-ray has been increased at the most harbors and airports in the world. This system makes it possible to inspect within the cargo without opening it. The effectiveness of restraining to carry smuggling goods, drugs and explosive has been proved. Within the country, partial harbors use a high price foreign product now. But it is very expensive and provide an image with insufficient resolution and a little functionality. An x-ray cargo inspection system is composed of four major factor, x-ray generator, x-ray detector, DAQ system, image processing software. Among them, this is a study on realization of image processing software. An image acquired by this system is very large having dimension of 2048 x 4096 and each pixel represented by 16bit. So, I would like to realize graphic user interface which can process a large image quickly and can save an image into database. I didn't limit development range to view an image, but expand to realize the software which has optimal quality by applying various image processing methods like Histogram processing, Spatial filtering individually or together. The compression of large image is essential that I would like to realize high effective compression by using JPEG2000 standards which uses wavelet transform.
