    This thesis presents a study on the miniaturized fluorescence detection systemusing reflecting mirror. It is integrated with a microfluidic chip to remnove the signal offset and background noise of the incident beam. Previous approach has used the method of changing the exciting beam path, such as an integrated optical fiber, a slanted incident beam, and split beams by a stop. However, they were difficult to assemble or they cut out the beam center of maximum energy. Therefore, we tried another optical configuration using microlens and mirror. A micron-sized mirror and a microlens were patterned on the bottom and top surface of glass microfluidic chip respectively. The exciting light is focused by the microlens on the bottom mirror and it is reflected out through the incident aperture. The fluorescence signal from microfluidic channel, gatgered on photomultiplier tube showed smaller affset and less background noise without mirror
