    The purpose of this study is to investigate the misconception for the rate of chemical reaction in high school students. It was investigated the conception for the rate of chemical reaction from four groups (the second grade high school boy students, the second grade high school girl students, the third grade high school boy students, the third grade high school girl students) total 290 persons. The analysis result of the investigation is as follows. 1. The most students understand correctly the definition of 'the rate of reaction'. But some students believe that the definition of 'the rate of reaction' is fast when reactants are in high concentration. 2. The students have the following misconception on factors of reaction rate. First, if there are many reactants, the reaction time is long because there are colliding particles. Second, if active energy gets higher, reaction rate gets faster. Third, if the surface area gets larger, reaction rate gets slower because more reactants react at the same time. 3. In the part of application of reaction rate, the students have a tendency to confuse concentration with surface area. 4. There is the difference between boy and girl and between the second grade and the third grade high school students in The degree of formation of misconception on reaction rate.
