This study was conducted to analyze the experiential learning of the members of the Sup & Deul Cooperative Association in the perspective of experiential learning theory. The objective of this study is to analyze the experiential learning of the members in the process of organizing Sup & Deul Cooperative Association and discover its significance. The subjects of inquiries to answer in order to achieve this goal are as follows. First, what is the background of the organization of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association? Second, what kind of experiential learning process did the members experience in the process of organization of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association? Third, what educational significance does the experiential learning of the members in the process of organizing Sup & Deul Cooperative Organization hold? A participant observation and an interview on the Sup & Deul cooperative members were conducted in order to answer the subjects of inquiries. The study results are as follows. First, the background of the organization of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association can be divided into social background and personal background. Socially, the cooperative members had become interested in the cooperative association according to the establishment of Cooperative Association Act and city projects like cooperative association education of Yongin-si. Personally, all members had the desire to find value as an ecological environment instructor. To fulfill the need of starting a worthwhile business that has economic value by working as ecological environment instructor and value of giving back to the community, a new form of business which is the cooperative association was started. Second, the experiential learning of the members of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association was analyzed. Kolb's experiential learning theory model was found in the experiential learning of the members of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association. Kolb explains in his theory, that the process of experiential learning is in four stages which are: Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization, and Active Experimentation. The members have individual experiences of working as community ecological environment instructor. They recognized many problems as they worked as ecological environment instructors. They had reflective observations of problems that they recognized while they worked as ecological environment instructors such as the treatment of ecological environment instructors in nonprofit organizations, lack of solidarity among ecological environment instructors, and mechanical education curriculum. To solve these problems, ecological environment instructors with ambition assembled and planned a new business. After considering various types of businesses such as nonprofit organization and social enterprise, the type of business was decided as a cooperative association. After deciding on the type of business as cooperative association, members actively strived for the incorporation of the business. They studied about cooperative association individually, and decided on the directions and business plans of the cooperative association through group study. They also consulted about the requirements for establishing cooperative association with experts through City District Cooperative Association Support Center. When the cooperative association was organized, Sup & Deul Cooperative Association was promoted through inaugural assembly and various medias such as newspaper and TV. The members carried on various experiential learning whether they had done it individually or in group until the cooperative association was organized, and they gained more solidarity through this process. Third, the educational significance of the experiential learning of the members of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association was analyzed. The members learned and experienced lots of things through learning with their coworkers as they organized Sup & Deul Cooperative Association. Their experiential learning during this time holds the following significance. First, the biggest reason for them to make a cooperative association is to do valuable works as ecological environment instructors. The real intention of the cooperative association is to create profit for the entire association together and returning those profits to the community. The members of the Sup & Deul Cooperative Association develop new lectures and share information internally by working in the cooperative association and receive proper economic compensations. Externally, they aim to play the role of a valuable group of their community by fostering people who care for environment through education on nature. The members of the Sup & Deul Cooperative Association created a place for interactive learning while sharing what they learned with one another through experiential learning. The experiential learning of a group until cooperative association is organized is significant in improving trust and solidarity among the members. This study which analyzed the experiential learning of members until a new cooperative association is organized has the following significance and value. Members experience various experiential learnings until cooperative association is organized. Cooperative association is a place for lifelong learning in itself. Individual experiential learning and group experiential learning of the cooperative association members are critical factors needed for the development of the organization which interact with each other. This offers a significant point of view which looks at cooperative association as an object of lifelong learning instead of a separate group for individual profits in the field of lifelong education. Through the experience of the members of Sup & Deul Cooperative Association, it was discovered that lifelong educational institutions of a region play the role of various place of education. Lifelong educational institutions of regions are not only the place for education but also the place for material and human network of the region. This is how a new form of education model such as cooperative organization can be created as a result of such education. Currently most of the cooperative associations are newly organized and their development in the future are unstable. However, if more cases of development of cooperative associations are found and future researches on cooperative association are conducted, an new learning model for lifelong learning can be discovered.
