    The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of the mating system on quality of commercial pig breed. Three way-crossbreed, (Yorkshire×Landrace)×Duroc (YLD), which is a commercial pig breed widely produced and consumed in Korea compared to (Yorkshire×Berkshire)×Duroc (YBD). Berkshire (B) has better water-holding capacity and higher redness compared to other pig breeds, while lightness is lower. For muscle fiber, B has better muscle fiber characteristics compared to other pig breeds. Therefore, using the B breed in a three-way crossbred production is to take advantage of heterosis, one of the main advantages that crossbreeding can provide. In the present study, YLD was produced by crossbreeding and F1 sow, which is bred from Yorkshire (Y) and Landrace (L), with Duroc (D). YBD was produced by using B instead of L. The results for carcass characteristics and yields of primal cuts indicates that YBD has higher carcass weight, loin wight and yields of shoulder, belly and rib cuts than YLD (p 0.05), while YBD had higher frequency 1+ grade in distribution of carcass grades than YLD (p 0.05). Tenderness of loin did not also showed the significance between YLD and YBD (p>0.05). The higher composition of unsaturated fatty acid was observed in YBD loin, while the composition of saturated fatty acid was significantly higher in YLD loin than in YBD (p 0.05).
