    Mechanical systems necessary for the power transmission of commercialized vehicles are rapidly changing depending on the market trends, customers' demands, environmental regulations, and related laws. In response, researches on the core technologies are being actively conducted, especially for large-size commercialized vehicles which require a higher level of fuel consumption efficiency and dynamic performance due to the driving distance and heavy load compared to passenger cars. To improve driving convenience, fuel efficiency, and dynamic performance of such large-size commercialized vehicles, it is in urgent need to establish a research and developement process for multi-range transmission of large-size commercialized vehicles. The domestic study on multi-range transmission of large-size commercialized vehicles, however, is conducted mainly by large-size companies, and most of their core technologies and related items rely on foreign countries' advanced technology. One of the core parts that count in terms of power transmission and efficiency is the transmission that transforms the engine dynamic power and delivers it to the drive shaft. The operating transmission bears various and repeated loads. The level of transmissions that are developed purely through a domestic design process in consideration of such complex loads is still in the early stage, and it is unable to secure the finished product's durability including transmission design and optimization to a technically perfect degree. This study suggests a new development process to enhance domestic transmission development, which is limited to merely imitating advanced foreign transmission development processes of foreign countries, and solve various problems involved. In addition, the verification and actual application of the suggested process is expected to shorten the development term and minimize the development expenses of the multi-range transmission for commercialized vehicles, contributing to securing a domestic company's independent, own technical power as well as international competitiveness.
