    Why can't we focus our writing education on students writing what they want to write about? Why can't we let students choose the topic of a piece of writing and let them write freely? Until now, teachers have picked our writing topics for us in school and we did as told. It has benefits of it's own. However, sometimes we need writing that helps students express what they feel without obstacles blocking their way. There is one theorist who supports this style of writing education. This theorist is Mr. Lee O-Duck. Mr. Lee O-Duck has put his thoughts about 'Writing education on children writing by themselves' into action from the 1950's to 2003. He published many articles based on writing and student's writing collections. The people who agreed with his thoughts and theories on writing education were consisted mainly of elementary/middle/high school teachers along with commoners, people engaged in social movements, linguists who researches about Korean language, and poets/writers. They worked with the 'Korean Association for Research on writing education' in the center. Mr. Lee O-Duck was the pioneer in the field of expressive writing education. There are a lot of advantages to an expressive writing education. First, you can purify your mind because you can satisfy your desire to expression your own thoughts and feelings. Second, by writing freely, you can experience the pleasure of writing, so even if others don't pressure you to write, you may want to write by yourself. Third, by writing, you get a chance to reflect on yourself and build your self consciousness. fourth, by sharing student articles regarding school life, we can understand one another better, and this will contribute towards creating a friendlier and more understanding environment. I would like to name this kind of writing as 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi'(experience-based writing). there are a few rules in 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi'. First, students should write what they want to write about. Second, you should make writing a method to improve your way of life. Third, write openly and honestly. It is very important to inspire students to express themselves before you head into 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi'. When it comes to writing, it is good to show what other people(especially people in his/her age group) wrote, and after writing, you need the process of compiling stories into one small sheet of paper. 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi' is a type of writing that is close to self consciousness. Adolescence is a period when teens wonder 'Who am I?', 'What is the reason I was born in this world?', 'How am I supposed to live while doing what I can do?', "What am I supposed to be good at, and which job should I choose?'. 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi' is a type of writing which will help teens solve or confront these worries. Now, by doing 'Saeng Whal Kulssugi' during school hours, we enable students to gain various educational benefits.
