    The purpose of a this study were to recognize of job stress and coping method with geriatric nursing in convalescent hospitals. To do this, data have been collected from 178 geriatric nursing in at the convalescent hospitals in Gyeongsang city from April 1, 2014 to April 15, 2014. Measuring instruments used were Job Stress and Coping Method of Geriatric Nursing scale Ji-Yun Choi & Yoon-Jung Lee(2013) and Lazarus & Folkman(1983). The collected data were analyzed by real number, percentage, average and standard deviation, T-test and one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Cronbach's α using SPSS/WIN ver. 21.0 program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. As for the general characteristics of the respondents, 31.5% were aged 30∼39; average age 39.49; 84.3% graduated from a three-year nursing college; 78.1% were married; 55.1% religion; clinical experience of average 8.8 years; 87.6% were common nurse without a title; 69.1% were working in a three-shift system; 82% intention of taking not family including an geriatric person; 34.3% geriatric education related training period; 16.3% not education experience. 2. The respondents scored average 2.85 point out of full 4 in job stress with geriatric nursing. Of the three areas, their guardians-related stress was the highest at 2.91; their geriatric patient-related stress was 2.89; their geriatric nursing-related stress was 2.74. 3. The respondents scored average 2.72 point out of full 5 in coping method. Of the six areas, they scored the highest points in problem-based coping at 3.40; they scored 2.95 in a positive perspective; they did 2.59 in search for social support; they did 2.55 in relaxation of tension; they did 2.47 in a hopeful perspective; and they did 2.24 in indifference. 4. There were not statistically significant differences in their job stress with geriatric nursing. Of the three areas, their were statistically significant differences in job stress with geriatric nursing according to intention of taking family including an geriatric person; there were not statistically significant differences their geriatric nursing-related; their guardians-related stress according to geriatric education experience. 5. There were statistically significant differences in their stress coping method according to a title & geriatric education experience in problem-based coping method; age, type of work in a hopeful perspective; age, clinical experience & geriatric education experience in indifference; age & geriatric education experience in search for social support; age, marital status, religion, in relaxation of tension. In conclusion, the result of this study the nurses were experiencing a high degree of guardians-related stress in convalescent hospital. therefore, to reduce stress of nurses, education will be needed about management of aggressive or authoritative patients and nursing care related to the uncooperative patients.
