This study is a descriptive research to understand both the degrees and the relations of the ego-resilience, the family support and the hopelessness of the hospitalized elderly patients. The study investigated those relations in order to provide basic materials to improve nursing intervention which would be conducted to help more positive and successful self-management of the hospitalized elderly patients. The study was carried out from February 26, 2014 to March 31, 2014 as targeting a total of 177 seniors who had volunteered to participate in the research. Those research participants were the seniors at the age of 65 and older, and they were hospitalized in three general hospitals located in City G, Gyeongsangnam-do. As for the research tool. Resilience Scale-14(RS-14), a tool developed by Wagnild (2010), was used to measure the ego-resilience, and regarding the family support-measuring tool, the study adopted the family support scale which had been revised by Park Hyun-Mi (2011) based on the social support scale which Park Ji-Won(1985) designed. In regard to the hopelessness, the study used a hopelessness scale, a tool which had been revised in the study by Seo Hye-Seok (2006). This revised tool was, first, designed by Beck and others (1974) and then, was redeveloped by Shin Min-Seop and others (1990) to cope efficiently with any other particular circumstances. The analysis of date was carried out using SPSS Window 21.0 program. To satisfy the purpose of the research, real number and percentage, different to a dependent variable of general characteristics, mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and a multiple regression was performed. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. The average ego-resilience of the research participants was 4.65±1.38 points (range: 1-7) and, the self-acception of one's life as in the sub-categories was observed to have these high average points which were 4.76±1.46. The average family support gained 3.88±.79 points (range: 1-5) and, the appraisal support as in the sub-categories came up with the other high average points, 4.00±.85. The average points for the hopelessness turned out to be 2.88±0.88 (range: 1-5). 2. The degrees of the research participants' ego-resilience appeared to have statistically significant differences in relation to age (F=7.02, p=.001), gender (t=2.39, p=.018), the academic background (t=-2.65, p=.009) and the occupation (t=2.24, p=.026). The degrees of the family support presented significant differences depending on the types of living arrangement (F=4.12, p=.018) as well as the family support satisfaction (F=22.90, p=.000). The degrees of the hopelessness were understood to be statistically significant in connection with the academic background (t=2.52, p=.013) and the family support satisfaction (F=3.47, p=.033), respectively. 3. When it comes to the correlation of the research participants, it was learned that the ego-resilience and the hopelessness (r=-.585, p
