    The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the empathy training program on empathic ability, ego-resilience and stress coping style of adolescents from single-parent families. In order to achieve this purpose, we publicized 'the empathy training programs for adolescent from single-parent families' online to 198 community child centers in Busan. 30 children from four of the community child centers participated in the study. The group was divided into an experimental group and a control group with 15 children in each group. The experimental group received 10 sessions of The Empathy Training Program. Each session lasted 50 minutes, twice a week. Nothing was done to the control group. To examine the effects of the empathy training program, both pre and post tests of empathic ability, ego-resilience and stress coping style of the experiment and control group were conducted and the mean and standard deviation were calculated according to each scales by using SPSS/WIN+20.0. ANCOVA to the scores of post tests between the two considering the pre test scores as covariate was performed in order to test the differences between those two groups. The findings of this study are the following: First, the experiment group that participated in the empathy training program was significantly increased more than that of the control one that did not join the programs. Second, ego-resilience of the experiment group that participated in the empathy training program was significantly increased more than that of the control one that did not join the program. Third, stress coping style of the experiment group that participated in the empathy training program was enhanced more than that of the control one that did not join the program. In the light of these results, it is feasible to consider the empathy training program effective in ways that they are able to improve empathic ability of adolescent from single-parent families, ego-resilience and stress coping style. In addition, it was confirmed that the empathy training program helped adolescent development from single-parent families interpersonal skills, positive emotions, emotional control, optimistic attitude, voluntary and proactive attitude about stress coping style.
