    The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of Parent Education Program based on self-determination theory on parenting behaviors, parenting stress and basic psychological needs satisfaction of the mothers who have child of externalizing problem behaviors. To achieve this goal, K-CBCL scale was performed on 20 volunteered mothers of elementary school at a drop-in center for children located in KyungNam G city and they were divided into 10 person experimental group and 10 person control group. Parent Education Program based on Self-determination theory was carried out for the experimental group 10 times twice a week each for 120mins, whereas not a single treatment was applied to the control group. In order to verify the effects of the program, pre-post tests for the parenting behaviors, parenting stress and basic psychological needs satisfaction were carried out for both the control group and experimental group. By using SPSS / WIN +20.0 statistical programs, the average and standard deviation for each scale were calculated. To verify the difference between the experimental and the control group, the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) for post-test scores between the two groups was performed putting the pre-test scores of each group as a covariate. The results of this study are as follows. First, the experimental group after participating the program have increased positive parenting behaviors and negative parenting behaviors have decreased .Second, the parenting stress for the experimental group participated the program was much reduced than the control not participated the program. Third, the basic psychological needs satisfaction for the experimental group was much improved than the control group not participated in the program. According to the results, it was clear that the Parent Education Program based on Self-determination theory on Parenting Behaviors, Parenting Stress and Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction was effective for the mothers of whose children are having externalizing problem behavior. This program confirmed to meets the needs of parental autonomy, relationships, competence and affects positive quality of life of parent of the child externalizing behavior problems by improving the ability to deal with child's behavior and relieving psychological discomfort. In order to verify the long-term effectiveness of parent education programs based on the theory of self-determination, further tests are required and ongoing follow-up studies are expected.
