    During the past few decades, the development and use of individual ventilated cages(IVCs) which are now commercially available become an attractive housing for laboratory mice and rats. The benefit of IVC includes, small groups of animals are protected against each other and from the environment and also the environment is protected from the animals. The main purpose of this study was to conduct the performance evaluation of newly developed IVC system and to modify the possible errors if any. Cages, racks and air control unit(ACU) of IVC system was evaluated by testing the motion of top filter, cover, body, button and valve components of cages repeatedly in different test conditions. Moreover, materials of cages were evaluated under high temperature, pressure and strength conditions and the result demonstrated that the materials of IVC system(cage, rack, ACU) maintained functional properties in different test condition. The evaluation of IVC system conducted for water/feed, device specific match and seal test showed that IVC system maintained the contamination free water/feed for housing animals. The validation of sensor of ACU was confirmed by constant temperature and humidity result. So the developed IVC system was found to be validated and reliable as per requirement for user's demand.
