ABSTRACT The Effects of Corrosion on The Performance of The Heat Exchanger using Deep Ocean Water Hyun-Min Kwon Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Graduate School of Hoseo University Asan, Korea (Supervised by professor Jeong-Tae Kwon) This paper presents the effects of the corrosion on the performance of double-tube heat exchangers using deep ocean water. We mainly performed experiments about aluminum for comparing with titanium because we were known about the alternative possibility of aluminum by former experiments. So, we tested titanium, aluminum. aluminum with electro-deposition coatings(10, 15, 20) And manufactured corrosion tubes of those having the condition such as the temperature of sea water 70℃ and the concentration of salt 3.5%. The corrosion period are 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 18 weeks respectively. Then, we compared experiment and analysis results of all data obtained. Analysis data was calculated by using EES program. From these experiment and analysis, to begin with, we could confirm alternative possibility of Aled 15 when the tubes were corroded for 6 and 12 weeks. But, when the corrosion was conducted for 18 weeks, Aled 20 could be considered as the material having highest alternative possibility for the replacement of titanium.
