    When the car is driving on the road, the airflow around the car will produce relative motion, thereby causing the aerodynamic torque, especially when the car is at high speed, the aerodynamic effect will be more significant. The amount of aerodynamic drag and lift will affect not only the speed of the car but also affect the car's power and fuel economy. While aerodynamic lift will not only reduce the car's grip, but it will also produce induced drag. This will affect the performance of automotive power, the operational stability, and driving safety of the car. Overall, it is very important to study the aerodynamic characteristics. This paper analyzes the background and significance about the aerodynamic characteristics of the exterior spoiler of the car. In order to analyze it, a computational fluid dynamics was performed with and without the spoiler at the speed of 25 m/s. The analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics is including air speed around the body, changes of pressure distribution, and the turbulence characteristics. The results show that installing an exterior spoiler in the front and the rear can improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car.
