This paper analyzes whether there is any correlation between features of regional waste and the efficiency of Korean MBT. The features of domestic's regional waste especially “Seoul metropolitan region” and “Wonju city included in Gangwon-Do” analyzes the amount of bringing waste and source, also the mass balance data of final product RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) via “Environmental Statistics Yearbook 2013“ from Ministry of Environment, “Diffusion Statistics of New & Renewable Energy “ from Korea Energy Management Corporation and “Sudokwon Landfill Statistics Yearbook 2013“ from Sudokwon Lanfill. Therefore, this study analyzes what different is between the features of regional waste in Seoul metropolitan region and Wonju city included in Gangwon-Do, consequently, analyzes the correlation between the features of waste and the efficiency of RDF which is final products in MBT facility. As a result of analysis of the following feature of regional waste in Seoul metropolitan and in Wonju city included in Gangwon-Do, it shows that the Sudokwon Lanfill has more than 4% combustible than Wonju city. 1). the feature of waste in Seoul metropolitan - Combustible: 12% - Incombustible: 77% - Others: 11% 2). the feature of waste in Wonju city - Combustible: 6% - Incombustible: 88% - Others: 6% The another result of the following average data for RDF mass balance in Sudokwon Landfill and in Wonju, it shows that the Sudokwon Lanfill has more than 239kcal/kg lower heating value than Wonju city. 1). the average data of RDF mass balance in Seoul metropolitan from 2009 to 2011 - Low heating value: 4,971kcal/kg - Water: 4% - Ash: 12% - Chlorine: 1% 1). the average data of RDF mass balance in Wonju city from 2007 to 2011 - Low heating value: 4,732kcal/kg - Water: 2~4% - Ash: 17.4% - Chlorine: 0.9% However, having this research focusing on the feature of regional waste and efficient of RDF, the other constraints such as the type of MBT, real total amount of bringing waste and operating time of MBT plant are ignored as it is not influenced the result significantly. Therefore, this result shows that the efficiency of RDF is influenced according to the feature of waste. That's why the feature of waste is import factor to design MBT process to enhance efficiency of RDF.
