    ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate nutritional status of lactating dairy cows using MUN and milk protein concentration. Three experiments were conducted to assess the nutritional status (especially the levels of energy and protein supply) through the ration via interpretation of MUN and milk protein values. The first experiment was conducted to compare the effects of timothy hay, or oat hay feeding for lactating cows on MUN and milk protein values. Two groups consisting of 86 cows were brought into a feeding experiment where one group was fed timothy hay-based TMR and the other group was fed oat hay-based TMR. During nine weeks of experiment, individual milk samples were weekly collected for MUN and milk protein analysis.
