    - Abstract - Evaluation of the newly-bone formation ability in Ti-oss® on the guided bone regeneration in induced peri-implant defects Sung Kwan, Hong, D.D.S. Implant Major, Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry, Korea University(Directed by Professor Jong-Jin Kwon, D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D.) Purpose : This study on therapy of peri-implantitis aimed to compare the newly-bone formation ability of implants treated with guided bone regeneration procedure using different bone graft materials and evaluate the feasibility of a new xenograft material Ti-oss®(Chiyewon, Guri, Korea) by investigating the degree of newly-bone formation compared with that of other commonly used xenografts Bio-Oss®(Geistlich Pharma AG, Wolhusen, Switzerland). Materials and Methods : In four beagle dogs, mandibular premolars were extracted bilaterally. After 8 weeks of healing, fixtures were placed at the extracted wound sites. A total of 24 fixtures were placed in the 4 dogs. 12 fixtures used to 2 dogs were implants with a SLA surface (neobiotech co., Seoul, Korea) and 12 fixtures used to the others were implants with a RBM surface (Dio co. busan. Korea). Three implants were placed in each side of the mandible. Two months later, peri-implant inflammation was induced using silk and ligatures for four weeks. Following flap elevation, 2 of 3 installed implant at each mandibular premolar site were polished with surgical round bur and 1 of 3 was cleaned with the cotton pellets soaked in 0.12% chlorohexidine. The membrane with autobone was used on the group 1 and the membrane with Bio-Oss® was used on the group 2. The membrane with Ti-oss® was used on the group 3 and group 4 is the control with no graft material. With the animal`s sacrifice 8 weeks after GBR and histomorphometric analyses were performed.
