    -abstact- Evaluation of New Sound Analyzer Ver.5 for Measurement of Implant Stability and It's Clinical Application Jun Mo Shin, D.D.S. (Directed by Professor Jong jin Kwon, D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D.) Implant Major, Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry, Korea University Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability and the usefulness of new sound analyzer (ver. 5) compared with three currently used methods for measuring implant stability; Insertion torque value, Periotest value, and the value of resonance frequency analysis. Materials and Methods : 12 Implants with 3.8mm in diameter and 10mm in lenth were installed into artificial bone blocks divided into 4 groups depending on trabecular density(D2, D3 type) and cortical thickness (1.5, 2, 3 mm). Three implants were installed each 4 bone block in different torque intentionally with final drilling depth. ( 1/2, 2/3, full drilling) And then primary stability of each implants was measured with maximum insertion torque value (ITV) and implant stability quotient value(ISQ), and periotest, and Sound Analyzer. The obtained values of implant stability with four different methods were compared and statistically analyzed. Results : Statistically significant correlation was present between the sound analyzer value and values obtained with other two methods. (ITV, ISQ) And Not significant correlation was present between the sound analyzer value and PTV. Conclusion : Although the correlation between values of the new sound analyzer (ver. 5) and PTV is not significant, Implant stability measured with the new SA (ver. 5) is as reliable as currently used methods.(ITV, ISQ) Further research may be necessary for confirming the clinical reliability.
