Web-based CAD/CAM/CAE Pedagogy Combining Domain-Knowledge and E-learning Models with Bezier curve Generation as a Case Study
In CAD/CAM/CAE courses offered in engineering fields at universities, the development of a structured approach to effectively cover prodigious interdisciplinary knowledge is important. Recently, there has been increasing interest in the development of virtual learning tools to help students or trainees to learn diverse disciplines. Little work has been done in developing such tools for CAD/CAM/CAE topics by integrating an intelligent tutoring system(ITS) and an educational gaming approach. We propose domain knowledge and e-learning models to help an instructor develop pedagogical solutions on either in-class or web-based learning activities. By introducing Bezier curve generation, a pertinent topic in the fundamentals of geometric modeling, this paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed prototype in both traditional lecturing and virtual learning environments.
