Effect of the Size and Operation Type on the Employment and Revenue Creation i n Tourist Hotels
This paper tests the hypothesis that the size and operation type of the tourist hotels have an effect on their employment size and revenue level. The study samples were 130 luxurious hotels in Seoul and Pusan. The statistical analysis showed that the larger the size of the hotel was and the higher the proportion of the extended auxiliary section such as banquet hall and restaurant was, the higher the ratio of employee per room and the revenue per employee were. At over 150 bed room size and over 50% of the auxiliary section, the effects of employment and revenue were found maximized. Considering the capital investment for construction, author suggests that the hotels with about 500 bed room size and the 64% of the auxiliary section proportion are the ideal size level.
