A Study on the Significance and Formation of the Ending Methods in Poetry - Focusing on Poetry in 『학지광Hakjigwang』 in the 1910s
The ending methods in the poem of the 1910s show a mixed tendency of the traditional forms and the modern influences. While the influences from the Western Poetry was overwhelming the poetry of Korea, the perception of the selves and the world had not reached appropriate level. Therefore, habitual uses of the traditional ending methods in poems could be discovered from the poetry of those days. Many different kinds of ending methods, such as the synchronization between the head and tails of the lines of the poetry, along with other ending methods are found. But these ending methods mostly failed to materialize the poetry as an aesthetic entity as itself due to the subjectivity. The ending method is limited by internal structure of significance. and The ending method show a cognition on ending of poet. The ending methods in a poem are indispensable to complete the poem and make it stand on its own as an aesthetic entity. In a historical point of view, since the introduction of modern poetry many poets employed various types of ending methods to complete a poem and achieve the poetic goals the poets intended. This is one of many processes to be taken in order to posit the poem in a complete, artistic domain, and at the same time, it is a process of building a specified boundary in response to the readers and the world.
