Prediction of Limit Rotation Speeds of SiCf/Ti Composite Rings by Finite Element Analysis
Three‐dimensional (3D) finite element models of SiC fiber‐reinforced titanium‐matrix composite (TMC) rings are established to predict their limit rotation speeds (LRS) under different influencing factors, including reinforced area, fiber volume fraction, diameter, and working temperature. Maximum circumferential stress criterion is applied to predict LRS of the TMC rings. The results show that LRS can be improved when the reinforced area and fiber volume fraction of the TMC ring increase. Besides, the LRS decreases with the increase of diameter or working temperature. Whatever, the circumferential stress in the composite gradually decreases along the radial direction. The maximum stress locates in the bonding zone between composite core and matrix cladding near the internal diameter.
