Communication—Cubic Lithium Chromium Oxide (LixCr2O5) as a New Cathode Material for Lithium Ion Batteries

  • 초록  

    Lithium chromium oxide (Li x Cr 2 O 5 ) with cubic structure ( Fm-3m ) was synthesized via chemical lithiation process. Electrochemical test reveals that cubic Li x Cr 2 O 5 delivers an average voltage of 3.0 V (vs . Li + /Li) and a specific discharge capacity of ∼190 mAh g −1 at 0.2 C. Such new chromium-based cathode also displays good cycling performance with capacity retention of 86% after 50 cycles. When coupled with Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 anode, Li x Cr 2 O 5 can deliver a specific capacity of about 160 mAh g −1 and good cycle performance, with 91% capacity retention for about 50 cycles.
