  1. [국내논문]   THE EFFECTS OF EGR AND SPLIT FUEL INJECTION ON DIESEL ENGINE EMISSION

    International journal of automotive technology v.2 no.4 ,pp. 123 - 133 , 2001 , 1229-9138 ,

    초록

An important goal in diesel engine research is the development of a means to reduce the emission of oxides of nitrogen ( $NO_x$ ) and soot particulate. A phenomenological model based on the multizone concept is used in the current paper to analyze and compare the effects of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and split fuel injection on emission from a compression-ignited, direct-injection engine. The present results show that $NO_x$ can be reduced with a minimum penalty of soot particle emission with cooled EGR. Compared with EGR, split fuel injection has a higher soot penalty at a given level of $NO_x$ reduction.

    초록

DEUTZ AG, co-founded in 1864 by Nicolaus August Otto. the inventor of the four-stroke cycle engine, has developed the new 2013 engine for commercial vehicles on the basis of the tried and tested 1012 and 1013 series. With 4 and 6 cylinder models, the engine covers the power range between 100 and 190 kW. At the time of their introduction to the market. the engines will meet the exhaust emission legislation of EURO III and incorporate the potential for EURO IV. Further engineering targets were: (Compactness. Favourable power/cost relation, Low weight, Low fuel consumption and Low noise level). All targets could be accomplished in a relatively short development period via the application of modern simulation tools and test methods. In this paper, the design configuration of the engines is described with particular emphasis on measures for noise emission reduction and the combustion system including injection and turbo charging. Furthermore. we demonstrate the engine's potential to fullfill the European emission legislation EU4. which comes into force in 2005.

  4. [국내논문]   LEAN-BURN ENGINE - POTENTIAL ANALYSIS

Kowalewicz, A. (Technical University of Radom)
    International journal of automotive technology v.2 no.4 ,pp. 147 - 155 , 2001 , 1229-9138 ,

    초록

Analysis of the thermodynamic cycle of IC engine from the point of view of economy and emissions was carried out. From this analysis potential capability of engine development was derived. This potential capability is lean-burn engine, fuelled with homogeneous mixture with $\lambda \geq$ 1.4. Several different modes of fuelling were proposed and tested on one-cylinder test engine from the point of view of extending lean operating limit of the engine, emissions and fuel economy. Among them were: fuelling with evaporated preheated gasoline, with gas (LPG evaporated) and with liquid butane. From these modes, fuelling with liquid butane injected to inlet port was selected and finally tested. This novel system of fuelling offered better than standard engine performances and emissions at lean operating limit. These results were validated on full-scale two-cylinder engine.

    초록

The vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components: a generator and a battery, which have to provide numerous electrical and electronic systems with enough electrical energy. A detailed understanding of the characteristics of the electric power system, electrical load demands, and the driving environment such as road, season, and vehicle weight is required when the capacities of the generator and the battery are to be determined for a vehicle. An easy-to-use and inexpensive simulation program may be needed to avoid the over/under design problem of the electric power system. A vehicle electric power simulator is developed in this study. The simulator can be utilized to determine the optimal capacities of generators and batteries. To improve the expandability and easy usage of the simulation program, the program is organized in modular structures, and is run on a PC. Empirical electrical models of various generators and batteries, and the structure of the simulation program are presented. For executing the vehicle electric power simulator, data of engine speed profile and electric loads of a vehicle are required, and these data are obtained from real driving conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of the simulator, numerous driving data of a vehicle are logged and analyzed.

    초록

This study is focussed on the investigation of spray characteristics from the high pressure gasoline injector for the application of gasoline direct injection engine. For the analysis of spray structure of high pressure gasoline injector; the laser scattering method with a Nd-Yag laser and the Phase Doppler particle analyzer system were applied to observe the spray development and the measurement of the droplet size and velocity of the spray, respectively. Also spatial velocity distribution of the spray droplet was measured by use of the particle image velocity system. Experimental results show that high pressure gasoline injector shapes the hollow-cone spray, and produce the upward ring shaped vortex on the spray surface region. This upward ring shaped vortex promotes the secondary atomization of fuel droplets and contributes to a uniform distribution of fuel droplets. Most of fuel droplets are distributed under 31 $\mu m$ of the mean droplet size (SMD) and the frequency distribution of the droplet size under 25 $\mu m$ is over 95% at 7 MPa of injection pressure. According to the experimental results of PIV system, the flow patterns of the droplets velocity distribution in spray region are in good agreement with the spray macroscopic behaviors obtained from the visualization investigation.
