    Abstract Hugonia mystax Linn. a woody evergreen plant locally known as Modirakanni has been used in primary health care by tribals from Tiruvannamalai hills, Tamil Nadu, India. Ethnobotanically, the plant parts are used for rheumatism, skin diseases and inflammation. However, there is no data on active phytoconstituents in stem-bark and root mainly contributing to biological activities. In the present study an attempt has been made to quantify plant phenolics from aqueous, ethanolic and methanolic extracts of stem-bark and root of H. mystax . The extracts were also evaluated for their free radical scavenging potential. Quantitative determination of total phenolic content, total flavonoid content and DPPH free radical scavenging activity of plant extracts were carried out using colorimetric methods. Quantitative determination of individual phenolic compounds such as gallic acid, catechol, caffeic acid, vanillin, p -coumaric acid and ferulic acid in stem-bark and roots extracts were analyzed using RP-HPLC. The highest phenolic content was found in ethanol extract of root (262.2±0.96μg of gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/mg of dry plant material), whereas, the highest amount of flavonoids content was found in aqueous extract of root (18.06±1.25μg of quercetin equivalent (QE)/mg of dry plant material). Q. The highest amount of phenolic acid present was p -coumaric acid (3.775mg/g of dry plant material) in methanol extract of stem-bark. All the solvent extracts of stem-bark and root have shown the presence of p -coumaric acid. Methanol extracts of stem-bark and root with IC 50 values of 175.48±2.14μg/ml and 169.15±1.10μg/ml respectively, show potent free radical scavenging activity. In conclusion it can be said that, the plant is rich in phenolics and the major component p -coumaric acid may probably be responsible for the traditional claims of its biological activities. However, the mechanism of action of the active plant extracts needs to be investigated at the molecular level.

    Abstract This study investigates the effect of various parameters on the propagation of seismic SH-waves in a magneto-elastic anisotropic crustal layer with corrugated boundary surfaces, lying over a heterogeneous half-space. The shear elastic modulus and mass density of half-space are the exponential functions of depth. Inclusion of the concept of corrugated irregularity with magneto-elasticity in the anisotropic (Monoclinic) medium and heterogeneity in the half-space medium brings a novelty to the existing literature related to the study of SH-wave. The expression of general dispersion relation has been established in closed form by using suitable boundary conditions. The effects of magneto-elastic coupling, heterogeneity, corrugation, undulatory and position parameters on the phase velocity of SH-wave have been computed numerically and demonstrated graphically. Moreover, different cases of free and common surface corrugations are studied which serve as a focal theme of the study.

    Abstract Neighbor balanced designs are useful to balance out the neighbor effects in field of agriculture, serology, agro forestry, industry, etc. In most of the agriculture experiments blocks are formed in a line and therefore, neighbor balanced designs are required in linear blocks. In this article some classes of first order neighbor balanced designs are presented in linear blocks of size three and four. A method to construct the second order neighbor balanced designs through two minimal first order neighbor balanced designs in linear binary blocks of size three is also developed here.

    Abstract Rambutan (Nephelium opossum L) is one of the most important tropical fruits that is originally found in Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Borneo and other countries in this region. The industrial processing of this fruit produces seeds and peels as waste materials. The aim of this work was to determine the flavor active compounds of rambutan seed fat (RSF) and its mixtures with cocoa butter (CB) after fermentation 6days and roasting at 150°C for 30min in term of ester, alcohol, hydrocarbon, carboxylic acid, aldehyde, ketone and pyrazine compounds. The result showed total ester flavoring compounds increased in the range of 10.59%–16.49% in the RSF mixtures as compared to CB. Alcoholic flavoring compounds also found in the range of 10.03%–23.15% of the total flavor in CB and RSF mixtures respectively. The most important flavoring compounds, Pyrazine, 2,6-dimethyl (1.42% and 2.01%), Pyrazine, 2-ethyl-6-methyl (0.67% and 0.62%), Pyrazine, trimethyl (5.10% and 5.22%), Pyrazine, tetramethyl (14.34% and 14.72%), 2-Acetyl-3,5-dimethylpyrazine (0.56% and 0.45%), 2-Isoamyl-6-methylpyrazine (0.34% and 0.34%) and Pyrazine, 2-butyl-3,5-dimethyl (0.34% and 0.27%) estimated in CB and RSF mixtures respectively. Rambutan seed fat up to 20% can be used with cocoa butter as a potential ratio of CB and RSF for the application in chocolate manufacturing as a cocoa butter alternative to improve and get the best quality aroma in final products.

    Abstract The article is concerned with homotopy in the category P whose objects are the pairs ( X , ∗ ) consisting of a Polish space X and a closed binary operation ∗ . Homomorphisms in P are continuous maps compatible with the operations. The result showed that the category P admits the structure of a fibration category in the sense of H. Baues. The notions of fibration and weak equivalence are defined in the category P and showed to satisfy fundamental properties that the corresponding notions satisfy in the category Top of topological spaces.

    Abstract A new series of 1-(4-substitutedphenyl)-3-(4-(4,6-dimethyl-6H-1,3-thiazin-2-yl)phenylsulfon-yl)urea/thiourea ( 3a – l ) derivatives were synthesized and screened for anticonvulsant activity by maximal electro shock (MES) and pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) induced convulsant model. All the derivatives were evaluated for neurotoxicity measures by rotarod method. Structures of synthesized compounds were established by spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. Pharmacological results were justified by the data obtained from the molecular docking studies along with the drug likeness and drug scores. From the experimental results, compounds 3a , 3b and 3c were found to be significantly effective. Out of these the chloro substituted derivative 1-(4-(4,6-dimethyl-6H-1,3-thiazin-2-yl)phenylsulfonyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphen-yl)urea ( 3c ) was the most active convulsion protective compound. From the evaluation results it was concluded that the sulfonylurea series is better and safer than the sulfonylthiourea for anticonvulsant activity. Graphical abstract A novel series of 1-(4-substitutedphenyl)-3-(4-(4,6-dimethyl-6H-1,3-thiazin-2-yl)phenylsulfon-yl)urea/thiourea ( 3a – l ) derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for anticonvulsant activity. The sulfonylurea containing derivative 3a (unsubstituted), 3b (hydroxyl) and 3c (chloro) were found safer and active for protection against maximal electro shock (MES) and pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) induced convulsion. Out of these 1-(4-(4,6-dimethyl-6H-1,3-thiazin-2-yl)phenylsulfonyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)urea ( 3c ) was found to be the most active molecule. [DISPLAY OMISSION]

    Abstract In this paper, a highly chemical stable 4,4′,4″-((1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(oxy))trianiline (TTA) was successfully synthesized with 4,4′-(4,4′-Isopropylidene-diphenoxy)bis(phthalic anhydride) (BPADA) using direct nucleophilic addition in Dimethylformamide (DMF). The resulting Hyperbranched Polyimide (HPI) was characterized by means of conventional methods such as Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance ( 1 H NMR) spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), solubility tests, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Electron Diffraction X-ray analysis (EDX), Vickers hardness test, thermogravimetric analysis (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermal conductivity. High molecular weight was obtained by extending the reaction time for 2h. The TTA/BPADA HPI demonstrated a high chemical stability and could be readily used in the precursor state. The thermal curing led to an increase of the imidization degree and greatly improved the thermal stability ( Tg above 200°C, maximum mass loss >500°C and char yield >55%), due to an increasing chain packing density). Therefore, it is believed that this incorporated HPI structure containing s-triazine moieties in a polyimide system shows potential as a new high performance and highly functional material.

    Abstract This paper presents a novel technique for solving two new form of equation with fuzzy and integro-differential equations. The proposed numerical iterative technique is based on the use of the reproducing Kernel theory. Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness and performance of the proposed technique. Simulation results are illustrated and comparative studies with past published works to the exact solution from Laplace transform of order integer have been performed to emphasize the simplicity and accuracy of the proposed technique. Moreover, future applications of the proposed technique are also discussed. Numerical experimental results fully support the findings of the proposed analytical approaches.
