    초록

    The purpose of the study were to: (1) determine important home management concepts in the secondary home economics education curriculum,(2) identify the educational needs related to home management perceived by secondary school students, and the factors affecting it, (3) use the findings to make recommendations for developing home economics curriculum and teaching home economics in the secondary school. The questionnaires were distributed to the 1,029 secondary school students, lived in seoul, local cities, and rural area. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, T-test one ay ANOVA with scheffe test, and multiple regression analysis. Forty home management concepts were selected based on the related literatures. Stress man-agement, leisure time activities, resource use, making money for adolescents, work simplication methods were the concepts which showed the highest level of educational needs perceived by the students. The educational needs were affected by sex, school level, residence area of the respondents, and other factors related to the perception about home economics such as preference, GPA, etc.

    초록

    Currently, textbooks of practical arts in the elementary school are being revised for the sixth time. All the students in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade of elementary school will learn these new textbooks beginning in March, 1995. The purpose of this study is to develop teaching models suitable for the new textbooks of practical arts under the sixth curriculum in the elementary school. The results of this study are summarized as follow: 1. Teaching guidances with subject matters in new textbooks are presented in Table 2, 3, 4, 5. The subject matters for each grade are divided into four main areas under the sixth curriculum. 2. The subject matters under the sixth curriculum are clothing, food, houseing, gradening, computer, industry and commerce. These are included in the four main areas of handling, making, cultivating or breeding and keeping. Activities or contents in these main areas are not necessarily related to each other in sequence. 3. The subject matters in the main areas are not perfectly constructed in accordance with the level of child development. 4. Teaching models and their example for each teaching unit are presented in Table 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

    초록

    The purpose of this study is to investigate the successional process of homemaking education curriculum for elementary and secondary schools in Japan. The findings were as follows: 1. While homemaking education was mainly for the girls in schools before war, it has been developed to required subject for the girls and boys in Japanese schools after war. 2. It is a very specific point that living subject is choosen newly for the lower grads in Japanese primary schools. 3. But it is remarkable that there are both the elective subject for the girls and the elective sub-ject for the boys in Japanese secondary schools. 4. As we investigate the process to study, discuss and revise curriculum according to the changes of social circumstances in Japan, it should be considered a lot for our homemaking education.

    초록

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the sex consciousness, sex problems and sex education of adolescence emphasizing the validity and necessity for the systematic enforcement of sex education. For this purpose, a questionnaire representing six categories, the relationship, with the opposite sex, sexual knowledge, sex consciousness, sex morality, sex problems, and sex education, was developed by the researchers. The subjects of this study was 224 middle school students and 267 hight school students in Seoul. Sex ratio of these subjects was about the same; For the satistical analysis of the collected data, frequency, Chi-square, and severed one way ANOVA’s and two way ANOVA’s were performed.05 was used as a significance level in this study. The most important findings in the study showed that most of the students wanted the systematic sex education in school, especially by the professionals in the sex education field.

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the problems of housing education in Home Economics and then to present some suggestion for improving the housing education in the middle school and to analyze the problems of housing edcation that was investigated on the recognition and application in real life of housing area subject to male/female students in the middle school. The respondents were 600 boys and girls of middle school. Statistical methods adopted for data analysis were Frequency, Chi-square, t-test, F-test. The major findings were follows: 1. Many students(67.2%) responded that housing of home economics was wholly helpful in the actual life. 2. Many students recognized the necessity for the housing education. They particularly recognized the need about the knowlidge of sanitation and facilities of housing. 3. The degree to which housing education applied in the real life was lower than that to which it was needed. 4. There was a tendency that the more students realized the usefulness of housing education, the more positively they applied it in the real life. 5. The contents that students preferred to be additionally included in housing education were improvement of residential environment, solutions to housing environmental deterioration and pollution, future housing, and housing for the elderly.

    The purpose of this study is to investigate understanding and preferance in 28 kinds of traditional korean food of middle school boys and girls. The data for this study were collected in a survey conducted from 25th August to 8th September in 1993 in Seoul and Jeonju. Questionnaires were completed by 409 students: The results are as follow. The students have preception(75.8%) and favor (82%) about traditional korean food. And they do not take very often without ceremonial and traditional-holyday, because the cooking method and process are sophiscate and difficult(76.5%) However, they want that korean tradtional food should success, keep and develope the cooking apparatus and simplifing cooking method.

    초록

    This study intends to provide sources which enable students to satisfy uniform design as I surveyed preferable uniform design and degree of satisfaction of uniform design to students. The subjects were gathered into 91 middle-high schools and surveys were done among 400 school girls. The results are as follows; 1)The survey of uniform which students wear. For jacket, tailored collar which is single breasted is most common and for blouse, puff sleeve, soutein collar, shirt collar is common. For skirt, lastly, they usually wear side pleats skirt. 2) Thoughts of uniform students preferred uniform to casual. The merit of wearing uniform can represent themselves as the ‘students’on the other hand, the demerit is shown that uniform is inconvenient enough to move. 3)Preference of uniform design. Students prefer tailored jacket, shirt blouse, flare skirt. Basing on these results above, I’d like to suggest something about uniform. The demerit of wearing uniform lies in inconvenience. It would weaken the degree of satisfaction of uniform and have a negative influence on students in physical and mental side. So we have to find out the concrete problems, at the same time, develop measurable study which fit for body. Adolescence is period of developing and establishing self. So they really need rather creative educational atmosphere than stereo typed-control. Reflecting this opinion, Clothing habits can play an important role and in future it is desirable to have students wear not uniform but casual.

    This study developed and proposed a lesson plan for the area of “Human development and family relationship”in secondary home economics curriculum. In current educational practice in secondary home economics curriculum, the employed goal and the nature of home economics are neither stated specifically nor closely interrelated. This problem has led us not being able to achieve pursuing goal of home economics education and to employ appropriate teaching methods. In view of this situation, the purpose of this study was to propose a lesson plan reflecting the contents and teaching methods to overcome difficulties and inefficiency in the current practice of secondary home economics education. The theoretical background of the lesson plan was based on the Marjorie M. Brown's philosophy of home economics which can be summerized as follows: 1. The goal of home economics is to help individuals and families to become autonomous in their own family life and to be more capable of interacting with others in behalf of well-being of the family and of social evolution toward a free society. 2. The characteristics of home economics is conceptualized as practical science and personal service profession. 3. the nature of problems which home economics should deal with is perennial and practial. 4. Practial reasoning composed of historical understanding, critical action, and reflective thinking is appropriate for the previously mentioned goal and characteristics of home economics and for dealing with perennial practial problems. The lesson plan was proposed for one of perennial problem, “How should we understand, create, and maintain our family culture\ulcorner”by employing practial reasoning and teaching models such as “role play”and “classroom meeting.”

    The purposes of this study are to investigate the relationship between the Piaget’s cognitive developmental theory and the practical course subject in elementary school which have the characteristics of skillful subject and living subject, and to discriminate the suitability of contents of the practical course subject for the childrens’level of cognitive development. This work could serve the theoretical background that the practical course subject presents practical experiences which lead the development of logicomathematical thinking abilities. The results of the content analysis shows that create activities develop the logicomathematical thinking abilities such as projective geometry, topology geometry, area conservation, length & distance conservation, and volume & mass conservation. And the most contents of the practical course subject are suitable for the childrens’level of cognitive development.

    The purpose of this study was to review the literatures on designing and developing the CAI program and to develop the middle school students’CAI program for tutorial and instructional game. For these purposes, the learning and instructional theories and the developing phases and strategies for the program were reviewed to design the CAI program. And then the developing unit was selected and the CAI types and the developing direction were set according to the analysis of the CAI programs and related literatures on home economics teaching, The four phases-analysis, design, development, and formative evaluation-were carried out in this study. The results of this study are as following: 1. The CAI porgram was developed on health and food life units. The program contains 12 classes on health and food life in two floppy diskettes. It consisted of total 9,000 lines and 76 frame and takes two hours to study this program. This program could be used in educational computers an could be utilized for unit learing tutorial. It was composed of three parts-unit learning, finding maze, and finding food. In the unit learning part, the learning contents in health and food life units were structured and presented. In finding maze and food part, the basic and the applied problems were presented with game. The characteristics of this program were as followings: (1)This program was able to bring learners’motivation due to the strategies of tutorial and instructional game and they can interestingly learn the program for themselves. (2) The learner could practive the learning contents repeatedly and unit learning while playing the gaming, (3) The learner himself can review and supplement the learning contents without teacher’s help. (4) This program was developed to unit learning on health and food life, on the other hand so far many CAI programs for home economics teaching were developed for studying separate learning units. 2. To effectively utilize this program, the guide book for the student and the teacher was developed. It contained method of using the program, introduction of the program, review of the program, the program objectives, the learning contents, and the keys to progress the program.
