    초록

    This paper is to study two major ´Si-mun-hak" school poets, Kim Young-rang and Park Yong-chul, who take important positions in the history of Korean Poetry. It is noticeable that they both are from Honam and study together in Seoul and Yomiuri Institute, Japan. Thus we can say that they compose pure poems under the base of mutual emotional bondage. They publish monumental poems in the history of Korean poems just after and before the first publication of Si-mun-hak, and this process we can notice friendship and close literary bondage between them. Both of them are composers of pure poems, however, a close examination indicates that they have their own independent characteristics. Though Kim Young-rang starts from a composer of pure poems, small notices could be found that he accepts historical consciousness, awareness of the contemporary situation, and ethnic emotion. On the contrary Park Yong-chul is romantic and mostly publishes melpoems, which shows that he is under the influence of Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher. This melancholy sense demonstrates his poetic colour, to stick with pure poems due to the lack of present situation. Park ,Yong-chul a scholar of German Literature, is different from Kim Young-rang who wants to concretize the world of folklore and ethnic emotion Park Yong-chul is interested in the current of the poems worldwide, is deeply embedded in romantic world, and attempts to revitalize the poems in his own way.

    Kim Young-rang has been known as poet who commanded elaborated type, meter, soft tone harmony of voice. Manufacture do poetry which have self-regulating structure through conscious calculation and materialize own inside sensuously. And his interest about shi-jo and pansori is reflected in production of poetry. He creates four line poetry criticizing existent poetry style(shi-jo and pansori and so on)in poetry´s circles in the 1930s that form of free poetry catches seat already, and plays a variation four line poetry learning forms and groped new modernistic poetry form. He established peculiar sensitivity of individual into compensation of shape and create chard free verse of new form. These features that shows in poetry form that defend self from colony actual broken external order is revealed can be seen. It is because construct space of imagination and found psychological pupil of the eye in to close loss persimmon formed on inside looking away actuality that can not accomplish own dream. Therefore, that appears in his poetry sensual and the trillion brazier fortune worlds can see that is product of injustice mind to look away colony actuality. Kim Young-rang did not compromise in colony actuality and could keep own inside to be upright through writing such poetry.

    초록

    The purpose of this thesis is to think about the characteristic of Jiyong"s poetry. The object of Jiyong"s poetry is waterIn his poetry, water shows up in very different ways. Ocean is mostly used. The others are "lake","rain","rainfall","stream", "hot spring", and etc. Even if the main material of poetry isn"t about water, the image of water is often showed.Also, ""water" is used in the image expressions. When he use a poetic object that"s not about water, he often compares the object to "water" In Jiyong"s poetry, the reason of using water a lot is more psychological than the poet"s experience. Traditionally "water" stands for "motherhood consciousness". There is motherhood consciousness in his heart. He has mother in his real life, but in his poetry, he says that he doesn"t have one, and when he saw animals split up he says that they will be very sad about being separated with their mother. And these conscious is affecred since the first poems and until the lasts. These motherhood consciousness works very importantly in making images in has poetry. The motherhood consciousness becomes the life conscious. He makes images with these conscious. He put life and breath and make outstanding images that seems like living. With these image expressions, his visual image gives a feeling that they are not pictures, but a moving screens. Motherhood consciousness and life consciousness are simple and general psychology that men has. Thus, those are the power of literature that draws the human and universe, Jiyong is a poet who used this general poetic conscious effectively than anyone, and made it literally.

    Daehan-Maeil-Shinbo"s Shiga have unique status and meaning in Patriotic Enlightenment Period. Because Daehan-Maeil-Shinbo"s Shiga is groping logic that can integrate these two intentions as well as is showing intention of anti-feudalism and foreign forces that was the most important problem in Patriotic Enlightenment Period. Logic that can integrate intention of anti-feudalism and foreign forces could be formed in place that can avoid formation of coloniality and -talbus ing feudality. Daehan-Maeil-Shinbo"s Shiga emphasizes civilization through metaphor of 'Disease", could keep away formation of coloniality by adhering to independent situation being based on nationalism. Furthermore could resist to it by finding in specific actuality inside and criticizes imperialistic countenance of new civilization. Although 'Nationalism" was having ambivalence which act by chauvinism as well as central ideology of resistance, that is securing logic that can integrate intention of anti-feudalism and foreign forces have very importantmeaning.

    초록

    This writing explores a few aesthetical types of ecoism poetry. Research into ecoism literature up until now has not exceeded the realm of materialism. Such method falls under the category of ideology critique and same as recapping modern debates. From that point and based on a premise that research into poetry must first and foremost seek linguistic form, few aesthetical forms of ecoism poetry were studied. Kim Jiah shows identity and commitment between the self and the world. Choi Dongho"s poetry presents the existence investigative awareness of distance from thought and gaze. Park Taeil"s poetry shows the oral imagination"s awareness of the people and biorhythm. Here, ecoism imagination is mainly engrossed by short verses that focus on images. Simplifying the content is to create work in a more suggestive and limited environment. Vocal reverberation of the short, traditional eastern poetry is natural poetry sufficient enough to convey a sense of cosmic compassion. We are left speechless when faced with nature and humbly accept the fact that we are a part of an organic universe. Kant called this act of logic submitting to nature "sublime" However, a poet becomes a shaman when poetry is created after battling language. From the perspective that places poets as someone that recovers the premative sense lost through linguistic transfer, ecosim poetry offers the modern era with ability of an entirely new sense. Our ancestors were extremely sensitive and had super sight and were able to look up at the stars like we would with a binocular. Bushmen from Africa are capable of hearing faint sounds from amazing distances away. Modern civilization has radicalized sensory organs and dampened them. We need that premative and pure sense of feeling all living things and objects. Ecoism imagination restores the degenerated awareness. Ecoism imagination offers a sixth sense for fundamental affinity toward the universe. Additionally, ecoism imagiopens up a possibility of communicating with the masses alienated by the modern, elite forms of art. Collective rhythm restores the fundamental homogeneity of members of a linguistic collective. Revealing order and harmony of nature, we are ableto confirm the desire for the living world and internal relations and sympathy that exist between nature and man and among men. From this aspect, ecoism poetry presents a whole new outlook on future of literature.

    초록

    This paper is aimed at examining the characteristics and limit of imagist poetry by analyzing Park Nam-Soo"s works. Because Imagism eliminates an ideological or social aspects from it"s aesthetics, it is difficult to find a social sense in imagist poetry. But After Park himself had given his early imagist poetry an social meaning, many critics misinterpreted his imagist poetry. We can call Park"s utterance a retrospective modification. It is clear that Park"s early poetry is imagist works without social meaning. Park extended his poetic horizon by passing the limit of early imagist poetry in which images are static and plain. He used narrative elements in the middle imagist poetry. Accordingly the absolute image in early poems gave place to the metaphoric image in middle poems. In the later poetry, the suppressed sociality by the principle of imagist aesthetics has revived. Park had written an epic in which a brilliant Korean hero, Euljimunduck, drove back the chinese enemy. It means that imagism is the opposite of sociality.

    This paper aims to explore the meaning of "Body-Subject" and to gain an insight into itself appeared in the poems of Wook Song especially focused on his 3rd collection of poems Wol-Jung-Ga. This paper shows how the poetic significances which are described in a collection of poems Wol-Jung-Ga can be connected with Merleau-pontys" "Body-Subject" discussions appeared in Wook Song"s essays of criticism "Threshing of Civilization". The process how the concept of "Body-Subject" shown in Wol-Jung-Ga is getting into shape is studied in three aspects such as the image of Body, the image of Other and last, the image of Touch. Those of three aspects are; First, Body-image in Wook Song"s poems connotes the meaning of body subjectivity which is described as <Thinking of Body> or <Body of Thinking> in Merleau-Pontys. The second thing, Other-image. This is a poetic take-shape against from another"s eye and comes from a viewpoint saying that Subject is tried to be found among action & re-action between Subject and Other. Thirdly, Touch-image means re-organization of the relationship between Subject and Other as consensus and symbiosis as a view point of Mutual Subjectivity. As mentioned above" at the basis of perception and reconsideration of modern age, Wook Song"s poetic take-shape makes his new grope for Subject worth being significant.

    초록

    This critical essay intends to examine the metaphysical characteristics on Yu, Chi-Hwan"s poems by using the thematic study. I will describe how the poetic subjects of his poems are illustrated depend on using "crow" motif. By clarifying the mode of theme and motif, I will look into the continuity the variation in his poems. There appear a lot of "crow" motifs in Yu, "s poems. The bird images are often observed in his poems like a kite, a sea gull, a crane and so on. This is not incidental phenomenon. Though the symbolic meanings of birds have been changing according to ages or places, in his poems "crow" is the symbol of the middle existence which poetic subjects realize the limit of being. This study tries to examine the poetry, being based on the concept of "middle existence" which contains metaphysical aspects. The "crow" motif as a main topic in this study is the key concept to understand his poetry which were presented in various styles. He concentrated his energies on "ontology" with poetry through all his life. He is hoping for gaining integration between the nothingness and the completeness in literature.

    초록

    Park Yong-chul"s early poetry represent trends of Romanticism. These works are written before his practice of critique regularized, most of them have emotional reaction based on gloomy colony generation. Poetic speaker shows us consciousness escaping or wandering from reality strongly. This attitude about Romanticism makes two opposite composition in his poems like inside versus outside and lightness versus darkness. The approach to lightness except darkness gives opportunity depriving experiential concreteness and getting dualism to be calm and yearn. In that point, Park Yong chul"s early works maintain these view: They are realizing romanticism point efficiently before his idea completed about a lyric and failing to reach his own poetics because of sentiment and longing. And he changes his romantic poetry to an aestheticism. This combination with aiming to aestheticism and romanticism effect the most crucial defect to make his poems mature. Although his works are based on negative age under the Japanese control, he regard it as a prior condition not a experiential embodiment. It disturbs art"s intention both to realize reality and beauty. Therefore, he is only anxious to include prior condition without experiential embodiment. In conclusion, he cannot but miss the sympathetic depth and aesthetic completion that can be completed with experiential embodiment.

    초록

    The purpose of this study is to describe the poetic world of Simoonhak School(especially focused on Kim Young-Rang and Park Yong-Cheol) It is an attempt to redefine their poetic stature in Korean literary history and to search for the present meaning of their poetic consciousness. They made a positive and willing effort to approach poetry intrinsically. The terms of "Transfiguration" that is mentioned by ParkYong-Cheol, means dissolution of literary experience. Kim Young-Rang"s poetic world that is based on the Transfiguration, presented the private point of the view which is shows the concurrence of lyric self. The negation about the social situation made them regarded themselves as an aesthetic subject and their search for the literary self consciousness made them pursued the purity of lyric self. In order to establish the pure self on the territory of their poetic world, they attempted to negate the social modernity. This process was an aesthetic resistance and criticism to the negativity and sterility of Korean modernity. The verification of Kim Young-Rang and Park Yong-Cheol was showed the attitude of dis-identificaion against the modern world. By their attitude of dis-identificaion which excludes the outer world in order to preserve the identity of the aesthetic world, they tried to overcome the modernistic time. Simoonhak school presented a new field and a new direction in modern Korean poetry by their poetic consciousness and attitude. Their poetry established modern poetics which is meaningful not only in 1930"s but also nowadays.
