    This paper presents an experimental study of the sensitivity characteristics to the surrounding refractive index (SRI) in arc-induced long period gratings (LPGs), in order to outline their dependence over the fabrication parameters. Several LPGs were fabricated, with spectral features that are appealing for chemical sensing applications, e.g., negligible power losses, bands depth greater than 20 dB, and total length smaller than 35 mm. In addition, low spatial periods Λ, which are close to the limit of the arc-based fabrication technique, were selected in order to excite high-order cladding modes. In particular, the period was chosen in range 350-500 μm to focus attention on the same cladding modes for the gratings under investigation. Accordingly, a wide experimental analysis was then carried out to investigate the dependence of the sensitivity to SRI changes on the period in order to derive design criteria for LPG fabrication. In the wavelength range 1100-1700 nm and taking into consideration the attenuation bands related to the LP05 and LP06 cladding modes, an SRI sensitivity enhancement up to one order of magnitude can be achieved by proper selection of the grating period.

    In order to increase the terahertz output power of the photoconductive antenna, a new multiple terahertz power synthesis technology based on terahertz time domain spectroscopy waveform consistency is proposed. The dipole photoconductive antenna with 500-μm aperture and a plurality of delay lines are used to build multiple terahertz power synthesis system. A synthesis efficiency evaluation method is proposed on the basis of the temporal coherence degree. The terahertz time-domain spectroscopy signals can be generated synchronously by virtue of the precise control of multiple delay lines, which can be realized the maximizing frequency domain peak power. Experimental results showed that the synthesized time-domain spectroscopy signal peaks and frequency domain power peaks are maximized, when the terahertz optical path difference is consistent. Two channel, three channel, and four channel synthetic temporal coherence values are 99.47%, 90.45%, and 83.37%, respectively, and the terahertz radiation power peaks can reach 1.94, 2.27, and 2.45 times the peaks before synthesis, respectively.

    We report a multiwavelength mid-infrared laser based on intracavity difference frequency generation in an MgO-doped periodically poled LiNbO 3 optical parametric oscillator, which was pumped by a dual-wavelength fiber MOPA consisting of two parts: dual-wavelength seed and power amplifier. The maximum output power of the linearly polarized pump laser was 65.3 W, and the wavelengths were 1060 and 1080 nm. Three idler emissions with different wavelengths of 3127, 3303 and 3346 nm were obtained under the maximum pump power, and the total idler output reached 7.38 W, indicating a 15% pump-to-idler slope efficiency. The signal laser generated in the experiment had two wavelengths, which were 1594 and 1604 nm under the maximum pump power. Three nonlinear progresses occurred in the experiment, two of them being optical parametric oscillation and the one left being difference frequency generation.

    In this paper, we have demonstrated an efficient perovskite light-emitting device (PeLED) by improving perovskite crystallization. The improved perovskite crystallization has been achieved by pretreating the underneath poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) layer with N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent before single-step spin-coating the perovskite, which results in a prolonged wet environment during the perovskite thermal annealing process to promote the grain growth. The improved perovskite crystallization induces a perovskite thin film with higher surface coverage, fewer defects, and larger grain size with less scattering of grain boundaries. As a result, the PeLEDs exhibit maximum external quantum efficiency of 0.728% and maximum luminance of 2088 cd/m 2 , which represent a significant improvement over the control devices. Moreover, perovskite films with improved crystalline quality have proved its beneficial effect on the device stability.

    초록

    We propose a novel optical tweezers composed of an annular beam with alternate radially and azimuthally polarized rings modulated by a fractal conical lens (FCL) and demonstrate its optical forces on Rayleigh dielectric particles both analytically and numerically. Owing to the optical system's particular focusing properties, which could generate a dark-centered or peak-centered intensity distribution in the focal region when selecting an appropriate truncation parameter in front of the focusing lens, the proposed FCL optical tweezers could selectively trap and manipulate dielectric mesoscopic particles with low- or high-refractive indices by appropriately adjusting the radius of the pupil or the beam. Finally, the stability conditions for effective trapping and manipulation Rayleigh particles are analyzed.

    We propose and experimentally demonstrate the generation of a multiple-frequency optical millimeter-wave (mm-wave) signal an without optical filter at the transmitter side. Forty, 80, and 120-GHz multiple-frequency optical mm-wave signals are generated simultaneously in our experiment. After 20 km standard single-mode fiber transmission, high-quality eye diagrams with large opening and high stability are obtained at these frequency bands.

    In this paper, a real-time hybrid fiber and visible laser light communication orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transport system is experimentally demonstrated. Based on virtual input/output technique, the system can be configured dynamically by using software. Although there is an approximate 12-ppm sampling frequency offset (SFO) between the transmitter and receiver, by adjusting the symbols number of one OFDM frame and the mapping scheme, the experiment results show that without SFO compensation, the system can achieve an up to 2.65 Gb/s data rate with a bit error rate at below 1e-3 after 100-km fiber and 6-m free-space transmission. As far as we know, this is the first time a real-time OFDM transmission has been reported in such a hybrid system.

    The evolution properties of the near-field evanescent wave scattered from two particles with the ellipsoidal and cylindrical scattering potentials are studied, respectively. Within the accuracy of the first-order Born approximation, the integrations are derived for the scattered fields from these two kinds of particles. It is found that the resultant scattered intensities are closely related to the scattering potential types. Compared with the ellipsoidal particle, the cylindrical one gives rise to less fluctuations of the scattered intensities. It also is shown that the scattered intensity strongly depends on the z-component of the effective radii and summation indices of both particles. Results indicate that the scattered intensity distribution can be tuned by controlling the Effective Radius of Scattering potentials (ERSPs) and summation indices of the medium. The obtained results are useful for determining the structural parameters of tiny particles and molecules by converting the scattering formulas.

    A novel coaxial diode-end-pumping configuration with combined two laser crystals was proposed for simultaneous, compact, and flexible dual-wavelength laser generation. Theoretical simulations showed that by balancing the gain in both laser crystals by varying the pump focusing depth or pump wavelength, the power ratio for each wavelength could be tuned for either continuous wave or Q-switched operation, and the time interval between two pulses at different wavelengths in Q-switched mode was also tunable. Experimental verifications were performed, demonstrating coincident conclusions. As there was no gain competition between two wavelengths, the output characteristics were much more stable than dual-wavelength generation in a single-laser crystal. It is believed that this is a feasible and promising method for generating dual-wavelength laser for applications of spectroscopy, precision measurement, nonlinear optical frequency conversion to terahertz wave, and so on.

    Based on electrical arc discharges mechanisms, we inscribed spatially arrayed long period gratings (LPGs) into a heterogeneous seven-core fiber. The LPG fabrication platform was built upon the commercial fiber fusion splicer with a self-developed real-time control software. With the help of homemade fan-in/fan-out multiplexer, the high-quality grating spectra in seven cores are measured. The largest resonant dip of −42 dB and minimum insertion loss of 0.5 dB are achieved in the central core. To demonstrate potentials of the spatially diversified gratings, we measured the strain and temperature simultaneously with the spatial response matrix to eliminate the cross sensitivity. Accurate sensing results have been achieved with relative errors less than 4%.
