    VAPOR is an open source, desktop application, developed by the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), in partnership with KISTI, for interactive exploration of earth sciences, numerically simulated phenomena represented as gridded data. The goal of this multi-year collaboration is to extend VAPOR to better support the needs of the geosicence modeling communities by providing highly interactive data exploration tools, thus addressing the gap in capabilities provided by current, similar visual data analysis environments presently employed by ocean, and atmospheric modelers. Efforts this year included support for parallel data conversion, stereoscopic display, multi-resolution cartographic maps, and a variety of improvements to VAPOR’s core renderers. All enhancements made to VAPOR will be bundled into the VAPOR package distribution under VAPOR’s current open source license, and made freely available to all via the VAPOR web site (www.vapor.ucar.edu). This report summarizes the project goals and discusses progress made in year five of the collaborative effort between NCAR and KISTI.
