    □ R&D Objectives
    ◦ Recently, because of risk and cost increment of conventional system for maintenance and management of buildings and limitations to work in construction site, the need of automatic system for the construction has been increasing.
    ◦ Since the conventional method to paint an outer wall is done by hanging a rope, the worker’s mistake can lead to a serious accident.
    ◦ The development of an unmanned gondola system of buildings construction is processing actively, but its application is limited by a bad work environment and a high initial investment cost.
    ◦ Furthermore, an added cost and work are needed for horizontal movement of gondola.
    ◦ Therefore, the objectives are supplementary of existing unmanned gondola system and an enhanced automatic system.
    □ R&D Needs
    ◦ Technical needs
    - Because an existing gondola system is big in size, complicated in structure and limited for application in different building, the size and weight have to be reduced.
    - The buildings have various shape of outer wall. Therefore, stable movement for improved painting quality is needed.
    - Since an existing gondola system is fixed or moved in rail, equipment which enables it for horizontal movement is needed.
    - The spray method is used to paint the outer wall, but influence of diffusion can damage to environment.
    - Therefore, a tool for roller work is needed.
    ◦ Economic and industrial needs
    - It is able to prevent accidents, improve performance, and reduce cost.
    - An automatic system solves the problem of shortage of worker, so productive improvement is expected.
    - The damage by spray-painting , when build the high-rise buildings, can be prevented.
    - It can also be applied to severe workplaces, like a ship and nuclear construction sites. Life cycle enhancement of building is expected by efficient maintenance and management.

    2. R&D Contents and Scopes
    ◦ High pressure painting machine system consists of high pressure painting machine platform, hanger system and paint & power supplier.
    ◦ Platform of high pressure painting machine
    - Aluminum profile is used to miniature and lightens the weight of gondola system.
    - Endless winder enables vertical movement and hanger enables horizontal movement.
    - Suction fan is fixed to the outer wall of gondola system, whereas guide wheel enables gondola system to move stably on different types of outer wall.
    - Block stop and brake motor are applied to prevent wire cut accident, wind gust and falling accident.
    - Platform is controlled by worker from ground.
    ◦ Development of painting tool
    - Painting tool equipped in platform is controlled by worker that enables gondola system to ascend and descend according to need.
    - Painting tools located on left and right side of gondola perform reciprocating motion.
    - Painting tools are controlled automatically making the change of roller or sprayer possible depending on various work environments.
    ◦ Development of hanger system
    - Hanger system enables gondola system to be fixed and moved towards left and right. Electric motor makes rollers move along parapet.
    - For development of hanger system, easy assembly & disassembly and lighten weight structure must be considered.
    - Worker can control hanger system by wireless/remote control.
    - In design of hanger system weight of platform must be considered.
    ◦ Paint supply equipment
    - Airless high pressure pump is used, so paint can be supplied smoothly.
    - Application of paint supply system enables to paint a 30-story apartment.
    ◦ Power supply equipment
    - Power supply can be moved easily by cart, supplied to 30-story apartment.
    - Power cable can be wind up and down along platform’s movement.

    - Fabricating the prototype and technology transfer will be finished
    - Funding for employing the builder and purchasing the additional equipment
    - Make the promotional materials such as videos, catalogs, pamphlet etc.
    - Select the demand sources for example construction firms(new), builder(maintain painting), and the like

    - Employ the technicians of professional equipment who have experience for traditional automation system
    - Educate the painters who was working on maintain
    - Establish the professional construction companies

    - Co-investment in the construction firm and maintenance company with paint


    ○ 본 과제의 최종목표는 작업자가 탑승하지 않는 곤돌라를 이용하여 건물 외벽을 상/하, 좌/우로 이동하며 도장작업을 수행하는 고압도장기를 개발하는 것으로서 고압도장기 시스템의 구성은 크게 고압도장기 플랫폼, 행거시스템, 전원/도료공...

    ○ 본 과제의 최종목표는 작업자가 탑승하지 않는 곤돌라를 이용하여 건물 외벽을 상/하, 좌/우로 이동하며 도장작업을 수행하는 고압도장기를 개발하는 것으로서 고압도장기 시스템의 구성은 크게 고압도장기 플랫폼, 행거시스템, 전원/도료공급장치로 구성됨
    ○ 고압도장기 플랫폼은 지상의 작업자에 의해 원격으로 조정되며, 상하이동을 위한 와인더와 안정적인 작업을 위한 석션팬과 가이드 휠이 적용되었고, 작업환경에 따라 적용이 가능한 도장툴을 개발하여 적용하였음
    ○ 도장툴은 외팔보 형태로 좌우로 왕복하며 작업을 진행하며, 작업환경에 따라 로울러 또는 스프레이로 작업이 가능하도록 개발하였음
    ○ 행거시스템은 플랫폼을 건물에 고정하고 수평이동을 하기 위한 장치로써 파라펫을 따라 자동으로 이동이 가능하도록 개발하였음
    ○ 전원/도료공급 장치는 지상에 위치하여 지상 30층 높이까지 전원/도료공급이 가능하며, 도료공급 장치는 에어리스 방식으로 하고 최적의 도장 파라미터를 확인하고 적용함으로써 도장품질을 확보하고 비산량을 최소화 하였음
    ○ 고장도장기 시스템의 개발은 고소작업에 대한 작업자의 안전사고에 대한 부담을 해소할 수 있고 작업 생산성 증대가 기대됨
